The President commuted the 30 month prison sentence for Mr Libby. The remainder of the conviction remains which now entails a $250,000 fine and 2 years probation.

I really thought he would wait until the end of his term like all the other presidents', including Clinton, did. I was sorry to see this done but it is, I guess, a fact of life.

GO AHEAD I DARE YA. www.usdoj.gov/pardon/clintonpardon_grants.htm And those were just the Pardons. For wjc's commutations see: www.usdoj.gov/pardon/clinton_comm.htmAnd then there was WJC's National Security Advisor, Sandy "Burglar" Berger! He who "absent-mindely" stuffed classified documents in his pants and socks to take them from the the National Archives. We still don't what documents he stole and destroyed. Speculation is that they implicated the clinton white house in the mis-handling of the terror threats - but we'll never know. Sandy was Kerry's foreign policy advisor at the time. Berger eventually pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material. He was fined $50,000and ordered to serve two years of probation and to perform 100 hours of community service. He also lost his security clearance for just THREE years. Berger was also guilty of some other pretty nasty things, like hiding the fact that the Chinese had stolen nuke warhead design info, but that's another story (which you can google). We will see Berger again, if there is another dem admin. A really bad guy, in my book.... In contrast, Libby was convicted of lying to the grand jury on an investigation where the prosecutor already knew that the person who revealed Valerie Plame's identity was another person (Arbitrage). In other words, Fitzgerald was investigating a non-crime, fishing to hook someone, anyone, in the WH. Did Libby lie? I don't know, maybe, maybe faulty recollection, his word against someone else. But it was definitely a trumped up investigation of a non-event to ensnare the WH. imho. BTW, WJC was also convicted of lying to the grand jury, in a Civil Rights case (not about sex as dems love to say). But Republican's are held to a much higher standard. And to the diehard dems, none of this matters.... except that they got a pound of flesh...

Thanks Lou. But ... the first link is for the pardons issued by GHBush. The 2nd link is for an article written in 2005. The best info I have found shows that GWBush has pardoned 113 people, who had already served their sentences, and has commuted the sentences of 4 people. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_pardoned_by_George_W._BushContrast: GWBush 117 pardons & commutations in 6 years (so far) Clinton 396 pardons in 8 years GHWBush 74 pardons in 4 years Reagan 393 in 8 years Carter 534 in 4 years Ford 382 in 4 years Nixon 863 in 6 years Personally, I think most of the pardons have probably been reasonable, although I think many of wjc's pardons appeared to be for $$ (ie Marc Rich, Almon Braswell and some of the drug dealers sponsored by Hillary's brother and other relatives)and for political gain (ie the FALN terrorists), Susan Macdougal, Dan Rostenkowski, Melvin Reynolds. To say nothing of ROGER CLINTON, on drug charges! And once more, for the record, Libby was railroaded by a prosecutor who KNEW that no crime had been committed, and obviously part of dem led program to distract the WH during time of war. There was NO crime committed in the release of Valerie Plame's name, and Fitzgerald KNEW that before he started. This was as bad/wrong as Nifong's prosecution of the Duke Lacrosse players. The dems are acting like this is the first pardon ever issued by a president, and Jimmy has it right that it takes a lot of hypocritical chutzpah for The Hillary to be critical of it.... but what else is new....

You must realize that what ever President Bush does will be bashed by the Dem's but I think Hillary had her head in the sand when her hubby pardoned some or should I say a lot of those that should not have been pardoned. $$$$$$$$$$$$money talks for the Dem's.

the reason the bushes havent commuted or pardoned that many people is because in texas they still fry em ----lol Oh, I do love those progressive states! CA still has the death penalty, seldom used. I've been waiting 19 years for one particular ... individual to take the long sleep. Funny, at one time I was anti-death penalty, anti 2nd amendment, pro choice, and generally left of center. Funny how time, events and reality can cause a person to rethink the necessity of certain things.
